Museumnacht Events We’re Anticipating

 In Culture

Ever year, Museumnacht returns and transforms various galleries and museums around Amsterdam into late night venues where art, performances and music meet.

The 2019 instalment, taking place on November 2, is set to be no different. Here’s three venues that are looking particularly tempting.

Framer Framed
This project space recently relocated from the Noord’s Tolhuis to a spacious renovated warehouse in Amsterdam Oost, on Oranje-Vrijstaatkade.

As well as their current exhibition “Elsewheres Within Here”, curated and consisting mostly of upcoming Amsterdam based artists, being on show, Framer Framed have a handful of special curated elements for Museumnacht.

This includes music being supplied by DJ Lamsi, a prolific remixer and producer who will likely be bringing a range of club and hip hop to the decks. As well as this there will also be a dance performance by Shailesh Bahoran titled “Heritage” plus an interactive installation by the Istanbul Queer Art Collective.

Allard Pierson
Allard Pierson is a museum dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the material history of the University of Amsterdam. However, from November 2 until 19 January 2020 it will be home to a special exhibition on the future of print.

Organised by Amsterdam’s AGA LAB as part of their 60th birthday celebrations, the show features four international artists. As the event page states, the purpose of the project is to create “new connections between the future, present and past.”

Arti et Amicitiae
The oldest visual artist society in the Netherlands, Arti et Amicitiae’s activities are also still determined by the artists themselves.

For Museumnacht, the venue has decided to focus on promoting ecological awareness through activist art, performances, installations, lectures and music. There are multiple artists from the Netherlands and abroad involved in the exhibition, including Isabel Burr Raty, Koos Buist and Talking Trees.
